Francis X. McConville holds a BSc degree in Chemistry and MSc degrees in both Chemical Engineering and in Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. His career spans 26 years in the chemical industry and related fields, and such diverse areas as biomass conversion, oil recovery, and pharmaceutical API process development and scale-up. He has held positions at the prestigious Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology, New England Renewable Fuels, and most recently 14 years as a pharmaceutical process engineer at Sepracor, Inc. He has scaled up chemical and biochemical processes in Asia, Europe and North America. He now operates FXM Engineering & Design and lives with his family in Worcester, Massachusetts. Mr. McConville is also a senior consultant and technology specialist with IMPACT Technology Consultants, Inc.  of Lincoln, Mass., an engineering firm focused on resolving technology-based issues in Pharma, Fine Chemicals and Biotech.
New course: Since 2004 Mr. McConville has been presenting a new training course for process development personnel in the fine chemical industry entitled "Secrets of Batch Process Scale-Up - Ensuring Effective Translation of Laboratory Processes to the Pilot Plant Scale". The course is being offered through Scientific Update  of Sussex, UK. The course has been presented in various locations throughout Europe and North America, and is also available for presentation in-house.
Mr. McConville is a member of the ACS, the ISPE and a lifetime member of the AICHE. In his spare time, he dabbles in watercolor and plays bluegrass and jazz mandolin in several New England acoustic bands. Email: fran@fxmtech.com |
